Note |
The colophon in volumes 2 (both parts), 3 (part 2), 4 (part 1), 5 (both parts), 6 (parts 2 and 3), 7 (both parts) and 9 (both parts) reads "Amstelodami, Ex typographia Borritii Jansonii Smit. M. DC. LXVII." or similar. |
|
The title is taken from a general title-page in volume 1 which is printed in red and black and bears the publisher's woodcut device; this is preceded by a half-title and followed by an address to the reader and list of the nine volumes. Each volume has its own title-page bearing an intaglio portrait and the imprint "Amstelodami, Apud Joannem Jacobi Schipper. M. DC. LXVII." |

Ownership and Custodial History |
Binding bears the arms of Charron de Ménars. The most likely candidate would appear to be Jean-Jacques Charron, marquis de Ménars, 1643-1718, a noteable book collector. However, this title is not included in the sale catalogue of his library published in 1720. |
