Correspondence and Plantation Records of Pierce Butler and successors, 1787-1908. These records include a great amount of detail on Plantation management, especially the running of the Butler Estates in Georgia and South Carolina during the period 1803-1854 by Roswell King and his son, along with a range of other sources which facilitate an analysis of the economic and social history of slaveholding and the cotton planting business. There are Crop Reports, Livestock Reports, Slave Lists, details of Births and Deaths of Slaves, notes on transactions in Slaves, Shipping Agents' correspondence and accounts, as well as political and family papers.
