officers in the British colonies in North America and the
West Indies and then sent periodically by the Governor of
the colony to England. The Lists give information
regarding the date of entry or clearance, the name of the
ship, the home port or colony, details of the construction
and registration, the name of the master and the owner,
the tonnage and number of guns, the number of crew and
