Title A true translated copy of a writ of prohibition, granted by the Lord Chief Justice, and other the judges of the Court of Common Pleas in Easter term 1676. against the bishop of Chichester, : who had proceeded against, excommunicated, and thereupon imprisioned one Thomas Watersfield a church-warden, for refusing to take the oath usually tendred to persons in such office, by which writ the illegality of all such oaths is declared, and the said bishop commanded to release and take off his said excommunication &c.
