Title The ancient ecclesiastical histories of the first six hundred years after Christ, written in the Greek tongue by three learned historiographers, Eusebius, Socrates, and Evagrius. Eusebius Pamphilus bishop of Cæsarea in Palestina, wrote ten books. Socrates Scholasticus of Constantinople, wrote seven books. Evagrius Scholasticus of Antioch, wrote six books. Whereunto is annexed, Dorotheus, Bishop of Tyrus, of the lives and ends of the prophets, apostles, and LXX disciples. All which authors are faithfully translated out of the Greek tongue by Meredith Hanmer Doctor in Divinity. Last of all, herein is comprized a brief chronography collected by the said translator, with a copious index of the principal matters throughout all the histories
