Note |
The developing trade between Britain and North America during the 18th century brought rapidly growing prosperity to Glasgow as its merchants and traders quickly learned to make use of the city's advantageous geographical position. The minutes are mainly concerned with sugar and cotton, but also touch upon coolie labour, postal services, the pro-English bias of Customs regulations, rum and slavery. |
