T. Perronet Thompson, governor of Sierra Leone from 1808-1810, temporarily changed the name of the newspaper to The African herald and the name of Freetown to Georgetown. He is also believed to be behind the satirical, unpublished version of no. 10 of The African herald, dated 11th November 1809.
