Title An ordinance of the Lords and Commons assembled in Parliament, : concerning a new excise upon allum, copperas, Monmouth-caps, and hats of all sorts, hopps, saffron, starch, and all manner of silkes or stuffes, made in this kingdome; and many other goods and commodities imported, made, or growing in this kingdom, not formerly paying excise. For the present payment of such pressing debts as are due unto severall handicrafts men, and other persons, for armes, ammunition, and for other services of the state. Die Lunæ, 8 Julii, 1644. Ordered by the Lords assembled in Parliament, that this ordinance shall be forthwith printed and published. J. Brown Cler. Parliamentorum.
