Volunteering
Become a Library Volunteer! Support library services, gain experience, and meet new people - all while giving back to your university community
Volunteering at the Library
Volunteering with the University Library is a great way to get involved, support your peers, and gain valuable experience. As a Library Volunteer, you’ll help enhance the student experience by assisting customers, gathering feedback, sharing ideas, and supporting a range of library and archive tasks—including at the Hull History Centre.
In return, you’ll receive full training, join a supportive volunteer community, and have access to development opportunities, including the chance to earn the Hull Employability Award. It’s a rewarding way to build skills that employers value while making a real difference on campus.
The recruitment process for the 2025-26 Library Volunteer Scheme has now closed
Please email libraryvolunteers@hull.ac.uk to be added to the waiting list.

Volunteering at the Library gave me a lot more than I expected. It introduced me to new career ideas, like working in publishing or other environments connected to books and reading that I would not necessarily have thought about without volunteeringEmily Fletcher
