Kanopy is a streaming service for films and documentaries that works on any device, including IOS and Android. Collections include titles from the DEFA Film Library, ArtMattan Films, HBO, Frameline, Ruscico, Pragda, Flicker Alley, National Film Board of Canada, First Run Features, Cinema Libre Studio, New Day Films, and the Criterion Collection/Janus Films. The films can be discovered by browsing Kanopy, and they are also included in the results for Library search.
For British TV programmes, e.g. BBC, ITV, Channel 4 etc., try BoB (Box of Broadcasts) first as it has wider coverage.
Transcripts and closed captions are available.
You can use additional features by creating your own account. These include: viewing history, your own dashboard, and watchlist. To create your Kanopy account, sign up with your University of Hull email address, and create a password. Kanopy will email you to verify your account.
Teaching staff, if you create your own account you can create clips from films to show in class. You can embed clips into Canvas using the embed code functions.
Use your university User ID and password when prompted by the Kanopy site.

Authorised users are permitted to: include Kanopy films in lecture presentations; create clips and playlists; embed clips or films in Canvas; embed clips or films in student coursework. Authorised users are not permitted to: download or copy the films; use the films in public displays; make any alteration, adaption or modification of the video or audio (except to create clips).
