How to find the Library

Whether it’s your first visit or you just need a quick refresher, the Brynmor Jones Library is easy to spot on campus. The seven-floor building is one of the largest study spaces at the University, with multiple entrances at ground level and clear access from nearby campus routes.

Accessing the building

University of Hull students and staff

You will automatically be registered as a library user when you join the University.

Current students and staff at the University of Hull need their University ID cards to enter and use the Brynmor Jones Library.

Library staff located on the Ground floor can admit you into the Library if you have forgotten or lost your card. You may be required to provide identification such as your userID or student number for access. If you have lost your card and require another, students should go to Hubble and staff should raise a request on the staff portal.

External visitors

The Library welcomes external visitors. Anyone can apply to use the Library.

There are three methods:

As a Day Visitor (including under 18s with the supervision of a parent/guardian)
As an Associate Member (Alumni, NHS, Teachers, Armed Forces, Sanctuary)
Through the SCONUL scheme (members of other universities only)

Students on courses validated by the University of Hull can visit the library to access eResources on campus. If you have not yet received your student card from your home institution, you can apply for Day Visitor access in the interim. If you have any mobility issues please speak to the staff at the Welcome Desk on the ground floor about access to the library and your personal evacuation in the event of a fire alarm.

Guided tours offer an introduction to the Library and its spaces. Tours are available for students, staff, and visitors, with faculty tours welcome.
